Bio

I've lived in northeast Georgia most of my life.  As a young person, I lived in Clarkesville and Cornelia.  After graduating from Habersham Central in 1985, I attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.  I graduated with a B.A. in 1989.  I was not going to be a teacher - my mom and my older sister were teachers and I was going to do something else!   After graduation, I earned my Series 7 license and worked in the marketing department of an investment company in Atlanta - The Enterprise Group (an affiliate of Mutual of New York).  I married my husband Dan and over time, decided that I actually did want to be a teacher.  I went back to school to get my Georgia teaching certification.  My first teaching job was at The Children's School in midtown Atlanta.  I taught there for 5 years - 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade.  We decided to move to our land in Banks County about 15 years ago and that is where I live today.  Since moving from Atlanta, I've taught in Banks, Hall, and now Habersham - all in 3rd and 4th grade.  The 2013-2014 school year will be my 21st year teaching.

When not busy with school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, being outdoors, playing tennis, playing the guitar, acrylic painting, reading, gardening, and baking.  I also spend a lot of time with my 7 dogs, who all use to be strays.  I am Georgia Tech's most devoted female football fan and love going to all the home games at Bobby Dodd in the fall!   Young Bulldog fans have tried to convert me to being a GA fan for years, but I'm a dog lover, not a dawg lover!
